Almost Heaven

mo7435o.jpg

As I was taking these pics a car pulled in to the overlook behind me and I heard somebody say,"Look, heaven!". Gatlinburg can be a very frustrating place to live all the time with a sense of isolation. It's not that far away from a "normal" town mileage-wise but the traffic congestion makes civilization seem much further away. The advantage to living here is having scenes like these in your backyard after work.

Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze

WOW! I'm breathless!

That's what DD and I call a "god sky" and that is the goddiest sky I've ever seen!

Yes, I believe John Denver would agree with your post title. It is hard to believe he has been gone 10 years (October 12, 1997), but his music lives on, and when we see sights such as this, his lyrics come bubbling up from our subconscious memory banks.

Great site! Gatlinburg and the Smokies are our favorite place to visit when we want to get away from our little mountain home in Ellijay, Georgia.

so:

Absolutely gorgeous! I'm green with envy that you have that in your "backyard"....

I LOVE that last photo. V. nice!
